Dodd’s Acres Farm

Located in Mechanicsville Virginia, Dodd’s Acres Farm claims roughly 400 acres of Eastern Hanover County. The Dodd’s started their vegetable farm in 1985. Jane says of Robert, “It was something that he had always wanted to do.” Their farm was first GAP certified in 2011 and in 2015 joined the Harmonized movement.

They begin the season with strawberries and continue through the cold weather with turnips and collard greens. “If you can eat it, we will grow it”, said Jane. Dodd’s Acres Farms is most known for their Hanover tomatoes, as they have over 250,000 tomato plants. Their eggplant, large variety of peppers, cucumber, squash , turnips, and assortment of greens should not be overlooked. Farming is hard work and long hours but at Dodd’s Acres Farm the final product proves it is done with love.
